What a beautiful week-end! I hope everyone enjoyed the outdoors and the sunshine!
We are continuing our "Self Monitoring" Unit in Language Arts. We are questioning what we are reading using "thin" and "thick" questions. We always make sure that we are understanding what we are reading by questioning, predicting, and using text features.
We will be finishing Unit 1 in Math and will be having our first math quiz on Wednesday, Sept. 28. We will be working with large numbers on Unit 2. Please make sure that you are reviewing basic facts, especially with the multiplications.
We will be starting our "Working with Words" this week. Students will be choosing their words on Monday, and there will be a quiz on Friday.
We are continuing to work on "Diversity of Living Things" in science. Students will be making a tree classification on where they live this week.
In French, we have completed our review and are starting our first unit called "Au Cafe". Students have been doing a great job with participation.
If weather permits, we will be having our Terry Fox walk on school grounds on Wednesday, followed by our Pie Throwing Event. All donations will be given to help find a cure for cancer.
Early Morning Band is on Tuesday at 7:45.
Remember, girls will be receiving their first needle for HPV on Tuesday.
Have a great week everyone...work hard and learn lots!

Week of September 19, 2011
What a beautiful week-end! I hope everyone enjoyed the great weather and are ready to get back to work...
In Math, we are continuing to work on finding patterns using an Input/Output table. We will be starting graphing this week as well.
We will be continuing our reading of the "Tree of Life". We are learning to self monitor our reading~to think outloud and to take charge and track our comprehension. We are also learning to pick out the most important facts because as we are learning to read, we are also reading to learn.
We will be continuing to study "Classification of Living Things" in science. We will be making our own classification tree this week.
In French, we will continue our review of basic vocabulary and then we will be starting our first unit "Au Cafe".
Remember, Early Morning Band and school pictures will both take place on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
Hope everyone has a great week...learn lots and have fun!
